Officers took an area high school student into custody after reports that a boy had posted some disturbing videos online.
When deputies arrived at a Lawrence County high school they learned a student posted a video of himself waving a gun and making comments about the school system and the staff.
The officer viewed footage of the boy waving a firearm captioned with the statement “going back” and devil emojis.
The principal said multiple students reported the videos and were afraid. While officers were on the way to speak to the boy’s mother, she called the Sheriff’s Office to report he was screaming at his parents and they were forced to physically restrain him to prevent him from harming himself.
Officers took the boy into custody and discovered that the weapon in the video was a toy gun. However, the boy was transported to the Lawrence County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of inducing panic and aggravated menacing.
