Family members and first responders came to the aid of a man having a mental health crisis.
Family members called 9-1-1 just after 11 am to report the man had threatened to take his life with a weapon. They said he’d gotten on the family group chat to say goodbye to everyone. Additionally, they said the man did have access to a weapon and had stopped replying to responses from family members.
Deputies had an ambulance wait nearby and closed traffic in the area for 90 minutes while they responded to the home.
When officers spoke to the man, he agreed to surrender his firearm and allow medics to transport him to the hospital for treatment. Once the ambulance left the scene, deputies reopened traffic in the area.
