Deputies were called in to investigate a bizarre death in Kitts Hill. A woman called 911 at 1 pm to report there was a man in the bathtub with missing lips and a gun in the living room. She said the injured man had asked her to bring him paper towels and not call 911.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found the man in the bathtub and a pistol in the living room, along with a blood trail.
They said it appeared the man had shot himself between the dining and living room, wandered around for a short time, and then got into the bathtub. Once EMS responded to the scene and determined the man was deceased, officers called in detectives and the Coroner’s Office.
The deputy had served custody papers to the man previously, and the officer found the bloody court documents on the dining room table along with divorce papers served by the woman at the scene. Officers also noted ammunition, a spent hollow point round, and a bottle of pills at the scene.
His estranged wife said she’d messaged him earlier in the day to let him know she was stopping by to pick up clothes and discovered the bloody house and the man calling for help when she’d arrived.
Detectives tested the woman’s hands for gunshot residue, and the coroner took possession of the deceased.
