Matthew Franklin Brisker, 57, of Cincinnati, a former Portsmouth resident, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Arden Courts of Anderson. Matt was born on May 11, 1968, in Portsmouth, to Robert Franklin and Melinda Meixner Brisker, who survive.
Matt graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1986, where he was Captain Trojan, and he attended Shawnee State University and Ohio University. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and had worked at Vandervort’s Ace Hardware, JCPenney, and as a page supporting the Bookmobile at the Portsmouth Public Library. An Eagle Scout, Matt had also worked at Camp Oyo where, among other duties, he instructed scouts in archery and shooting. He loved reading, especially history, and the Cincinnati Reds.
He is survived by his parents, Frank and Melinda Brisker of Cincinnati; a brother, Peter (Kelly) Brisker of Columbus; two sisters, Emily (Andrew) Kotchen of Irvington, NY, and Margaret ‘Meg’ (Stewart) Andrews of London, England; as well as seven nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth, with Dennis Dawes, Minister, officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
