CPS Called After Kid Left With Older Sister

A concerned Wheelersburg neighbor contacted deputies to complain that an older sister wasn’t doing a very good job of watching her brother.

Just before 5 pm, the woman reported that a little boy got out of the house and ran across the street to the neighbor’s home. She said the boy’s parents weren’t home, and his older sister was supposed to be watching him.

She said the sister said she was cleaning the house and didn’t realize he’d left. The woman reported this had happened multiple times. Deputies noted they’d been out to the house previously for the same complaint.

They contacted CPS, who said they already had the mother’s information. Police spoke with the kids, who were fine and inside the home with the doors locked.

Deputies explained that there are official channels that must be followed to surrender a child you have custody of. The woman said she’d been trying to get rid of the child for three months and was ready to call a lawyer.
