Deputies, OSP, and EMS responded to the scene after a report of a rollover injury crash on US 52 just before noon.
When first responders arrived, the passenger of the vehicle told them the driver left the scene and he didn’t know where he went. Officers also noted an irregularity with the vehicle’s plates.
Around 1:23 pm, the owner of Shawnee Grocery reported a man with a cut-off shirt holding a bag hanging around the store. They suspected it might be the driver who had walked away from the crash earlier.
When officers responded to the scene, they found the alleged passenger from the crash. However, an investigation by OSP revealed that the passenger was indeed the driver.
