Portsmouth Police are investigating after an alleged incident involving a weapon shut down the Basketball game between Portsmouth High School and Minford on Friday night.
According to a statement from Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer, someone overheard a comment about a weapon and ran from the gym with others following.
Officials cleared the school and searched for a weapon but they did not find anything suspicious. Police officers spoke with everyone involved and Chief Brewer says they “are continuing to sort out the incident.”
The Chief noted that there was a person of interest but emphasized that no students from Portsmouth or Minford are involved and that no one was hurt.
The game was declared a “no contest.”
