Portsmouth Police say several families on 11th Street woke up to Christmas chaos after a man and woman were reportedly seen ripping apart front-yard decorations and damaging property late Tuesday night.
Officers responded after multiple residents called 911 to report two unknown individuals destroying inflatables, lights, and other holiday displays in at least three different yards. Two vehicles were also damaged during the incident.
When officers arrived, the suspects had moved on, but they left behind a path of festive destruction. Police took statements from several homeowners and contacted Shawnee Mental Health, as witnesses said the pair appeared to be in crisis.
Investigators are reviewing the reports and working to determine whether charges will be filed.
