James Zachariah Morgan, 45, of Portsmouth, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, in Portsmouth. He was born on November 13, 1978, in Portsmouth, a son of Paula Kaye Chapman Morgan, who survives, and the late James Carter Morgan.
Zach was a 1997 graduate of Portsmouth High School and the former Scioto County Joint Vocation School. He is a veteran of the US Marine Corps and served in Fallujah. Zach enjoyed watching professional football and baseball, his favorite teams being the Atlanta Falcons and Braves.
In addition to his mother, Paula K. Morgan of Portsmouth, Zach is survived by his wife of 20 years, Lyndsey Regan Warnock Morgan; two sons, James Zariah Joseph Morgan and Kyle Afton Cade, both of Portsmouth; a brother & sister-in-law, James David & Beth Morgan of Portsmouth; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to his father, James Carter Morgan, Zach was preceded in death by his daughter, Arista Keylie Cade; and three siblings, Denise Louise Hammer, James Daniel Morgan and James Dane Morgan.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Wednesday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor David Colegrove officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
The James Dickey Post #23 American Legion Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites.
In honor of Mr. Morgan’s service to our country, the flag of the US Marine Corps will fly at the funeral home.
