Man Seriously Injured in Freak Stove Delivery Accident
SCDN has new details on a story we broke last Tuesday involving a freak mishap with a stove that left a man seriously injured.
It all started just after 5 pm, when 911 operators answered an urgent call regarding a man trapped under a stove in New Boston.
SCDN has learned the victim was delivering an electric stove from Habitat for Humanity when it slipped off the dolly, knocked him down several steps, and then fell on top of him. On average, electric stoves weigh close to 200 lbs.
The force of the blow knocked the man unconscious. EMT Ohio medics transported him to SOMC and he was transferred to a Columbus trauma center for treatment of a broken leg and a head injury.
Family members tell SCDN that doctors have already performed leg surgery, and the man is expected to undergo a second surgery for the injury.
Initially, scanner traffic indicated that the stove had fallen three stories and landed on the man, but family members of the injured man say that it is not the case. His family says he faces a long road to recovery, and they are praying that there are no complications.
