Nancy L. Thurman, 78, of New Boston, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. She was born February 29, 1944, to the late Earnest Miller and Julia (Hughes) Miller in Jackson County, Ohio. Nancy loved gardening and doing yard work, she took great pride in her flowers. She loved doing arts and crafts, decorating her home and ironing clothes. Nancy loved taking care of people and especially loved spending time with her family.
Nancy is survived by two sons, Ben Bragg and wife Holly of Dayton and Dan Bragg and wife Sally of Minford; a daughter, Crystal Thurman of New Boston; two extra special grandchildren she raised as her own, Vanessa Tuttle and husband Ben of Minford and Travis Carter of New Boston; two brothers, David Miller and wife Melissa of Beaver and Oscar Miller and wife Pam of Jackson; three grandchildren, Phillip Bibbey, Evan Bragg and wife Tonya and Aly Floyd; six great – grandchildren, Jackson Bibbey, Bailey Tuttle, Brenna Tuttle, Brady Tuttle, Tyler Bragg, Weston Bragg and Connor Bragg. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gary Thurman; seven brothers, Lee Miller, Bob Miller, Jack Miller, Earnest Miller Jr., Warren Miller, Berie Miller, and Denver Miller; four sisters, Alice Rose, Grace Gibbons, Dora Fisher, and Osie Miller; one grandson, Garrett Thurman.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2022, at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (WOLFE – NELSON CHAPEL) in Sciotoville with pastor Phil Ruark officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. (NOON) until 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
