Police, CPS Respond After Assault Reported at Portsmouth Group Home 

Multiple law enforcement and child protection units were dispatched to a group home on Baird Avenue following a report of an assault involving juveniles. 

The incident began when a caller contacted dispatch asking to speak to an officer in person about a matter involving juveniles and an assault. The caller stated they were not comfortable discussing the situation over the phone. 

Response and Medical Attention 

Upon arrival, officers found the situation serious enough to contact Child Protective Services (CPS) and request ambulances for two injured juveniles. Another child was taken into custody during the investigation. 

According to officers at the scene, four male juveniles were living at the residence at the time of the incident. Police worked with CPS to determine who had legal custody of each child and reached out to Adams County CPS for further clarification.

Police also interviewed the injured juveniles at the hospital and communicated with Juvenile Court officials to determine the appropriate course of action regarding the juvenile taken into custody.
