A child was attacked and injured by a stray dog while walking down a street in Proctorville. The medium-sized black dog bit the child multiple times on the leg. The girl’s mother rushed her to the emergency room for treatment.
While the officer was speaking to the mother, they spotted the dog walking down the street and tried to coax it into a patrol car, but the dog wouldn’t come close to the officer.
The deputy send for animal control and an officer set up traps in an attempt to capture the dog. The victim’s mother didn’t see a collar on the dog and had no idea where it belonged. Deputies said they believed it to be a stray.
