Puppy Dies of Heroin Overdose on Christmas Day
Portsmouth Police Offices and Firefighters tried desperately to revive a puppy after it overdosed on heroin at the same time as its owner on Christmas Day.
Around 3 pm on Christmas Day, officers and medics responded to a report that a man had overdosed in a Charles Street Apartment.
The man was revived with Narcan and refused further medical treatment. He admitted to using heroin which caused him to overdose. While he was overdosing, a pit bull puppy in the home got into the drugs and also stopped breathing.
Officers and medics attempted to save the puppy but were unable to revive it.
They left the man in the care of his girlfriend and reported the dog’s death to Animal Control for possible charges.
