Wanted Man Busted in Homeless Shelter
Officers discovered a wanted man staying at a local homeless shelter just after noon. Courts in Franklin and Morrow Counties had open warrants for 32-year-old Timothy Harris. And Portsmouth Municipal Court had a warrant for failure to appear.
Harris was also arrested for domestic violence and an open warrant back in 2021. Officers booked him into the Scioto County Jail and bond was set at $20,000.
Doors Kicked in on Summit Street
Just before 5 pm, officers responded to Summit Street for a report of a condemned house with people inside. The witness said the door was kicked in.
Officers discovered that the back door was missing and the front door was open. Officers did not find anyone in the home. Police contacted code enforcement to secure the home.
Police received another report of a door kicked on Summit Street about an hour later. The caller said she was watching over a neighbor’s home while she was incarcerated, and someone had kicked the back door in.
Officers took information for a report and headed to the Scioto County Jail to notify the homeowner.
Wanted Man Runs From Police
A man wanted on a misdemeanor warrant took off from police when they attempted to stop him on 7th Street just after 11 pm.
He headed towards 8th Street and Young before officers caught up with him at the viaduct. Police took John Watt into custody for failure to appear and obstructing official business.
This was his 20th visit to the Scioto County Jail. Previous crimes include multiple counts of probation violation, trafficking in heroin, failure to appear, petty theft, disrupting public services, felonious assault, and breaking and entering.
Windows Shot Out of Vehicles at Cable Company
Police answered a call to Frontier Cable at 9 am for a report of three damaged vehicles.
When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that someone had used a BB gun to shoot the glass. Two vehicles were parked by a garage and another was under an awning.
Officers took information for a report.
