A report of a possible break-in on Robinson Avenue led Portsmouth police to a damaged building and the arrest of a wanted man, but officers were unable to confirm whether a burglary had actually occurred.
Police were called after a woman reported she had video showing a female allegedly entering a property and believed the woman might be armed and under the influence of drugs.
🚔 POLICE FIND OPEN WINDOW
When officers arrived, they discovered a second-floor window open and a broken window at the building.
The caller told police she had video of a woman walking through the backyard and believed she may have entered the structure.
However, officers were unable to determine whether the woman had permission to be on the property.
❓ NO VICTIM, NO BURGLARY REPORT
According to the police report, no victim could be located and officers were unable to confirm that anything had been stolen or that a burglary had actually occurred.
The incident remained a suspicious circumstances call rather than a confirmed break-in.
Police contacted Portsmouth Metropolitan Housing Authority officials, who said someone would be sent to secure the damaged window.
🚓 WANTED MAN FOUND ON SCENE
While investigating the complaint, officers encountered a man who had an unrelated active warrant.
Police took him into custody and transported him to jail.
