Coyote In The Woodpile
A Thomas Avenue caller reported a dog in his basement just after midnight. Officers discovered an injured coyote between the woodpile and garage door.
The animal was put down.
Toenail Emergency
At 12:08 am, a woman requested EMS for an issue with her toenail. She said it was coming off and bleeding.
The woman called back just after 5 am to report her toenail was bleeding. The Fire Department suggested the police contact Portsmouth Ambulance.
Something In The Attic?
A 9th Street caller notified police just before 2 am of people in her attic. Officers checked the outside of the residence but were unable to check inside. The back part of the residence was blocked off.
Who’s That Knocking?
- At 2:48 am, a caller reported loud banging on the door of an office on Offnere Street. Officers found the door secure.
- Ten minutes later a caller on 7th Street reported someone knocking on his door and two people standing on the corner. Police discovered one of the men had warrants.
Child In Danger
Police received an alert about a possible child suicide just after 9:30 am. They were advised that a child had searched for ways to commit suicide on their school Chromebook multiple times on Saturday morning.
Police went to the child’s home to notify the mother of the issue. An ambulance transported the child to the hospital for evaluation.
Under The Influence
A caller reported people smoking crack in Larry Hisle Park just before 10 am. Police could not locate the subjects.
Acting Up
A frustrated mom called the police just after 11 am to report her teenage son and daughter were acting up. Officers advised them to behave.
The Guest Who Wouldn’t Leave
A Scioto Trail caller told police a woman who’d been staying at his house since the day after Thanksgiving refused to leave.
She finally agreed to pack her stuff and go.
Worried Boss
A worried boss called Portsmouth Police just after noon to request a welfare check. She was worried about an employee. The woman seemed depressed since the death of her boyfriend. When the employee failed to show up for her shift, the boss was concerned. Police said the woman was fine.
The Invisible Wife
Officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Poplar Street at 12:38 pm. A man was outside yelling. He believed his wife was in the woods with another man. The man attempted to point the wife out to Portsmouth Police but they could not see her.
He refused medical treatment.
Under The Influence
- Police responded to a call at Buffalo Wild Wings just before 6:30 pm. A woman sat on the lobby bench for an hour and appeared to pass out several times. Officers took her into custody.
- Police responded to a report of an OD at 17th Street at 10:13 pm. An officer administered Narcan and then took the man into custody.
- At 10:50 pm, police assisted the Fire Department on an overdose call on Royce Street.
Back Again
A man advised to stay out of the Dollar General on Harding on Saturday, returned to the store again. By the time officers got there, he had left.
Family Feud
A caller reported a domestic incident between a Robinson Avenue mother and daughter just after 8 pm. The juvenile daughter was taken to SOMC for a mental health evaluation.
Woman Hit By Truck
A woman was hit by a truck during a fight on 7th Street. Police responded to the incident just after 10 pm. A woman claimed two assailants started the fight and took her car keys and phone before she was hit by the truck.
She refused to let an ambulance taker her for medical treatment. EMS workers told her to be alert for symptoms of a concussion. Police too information for a report.
