You usually see Detective Jodi Conkel’s name attached to some of Scioto County’s most serious investigations, including Special Victims Unit cases.
But during fair week, even detectives can end up working lost and found.
Conkel turned to social media for help finding the rightful owners of several items left behind at the Scioto County Fair.
And yes, one of those items was a set of teeth.
Conkel posted photos from the sheriff’s fair booth and wrote that deputies had several lost-and-found items, including AirPods in a cherry case, a credit card in the name of Kimberly Jenkins, a set of teeth, and later, an Under Armour backpack.
“Please share,” she wrote.
The post worked quickly for at least one item. The mother of the earbud owner was able to identify them and arrange a pickup.
No word yet on whether the teeth have been claimed, but we certainly hope someone is smiling again soon.
The Scioto County Fair runs through Aug. 8, giving visitors a few more days to enjoy the fair — and check the lost & found booth if they realize they are missing something important.
Deputies handle a little bit of everything during fair week: traffic, safety concerns, lost kids, found wallets, misplaced bags, and apparently, dental work.
In Scioto County, even lost and found can get interesting.
