Drive-By Potato Attack Reported on Sunrise Avenue
Just after midnight, residents in the 2000 block of Sunrise Avenue contacted to police to report someone drove up to their house, threw potatoes at the front door, and then fled in a vehicle.
Officers said they would check the area.
Woman Attacks Passing Cars With Hammer in Clarktown
Just before 9 pm, witnesses reported a woman was standing by the side of the road just south of Clarktown and attempting to hit passing cars with a hammer.
About 10 minutes later, she was spotted on St. Rt 139 with a large weapon in her back pocket. Officers caught up with her at the Jefferson Township Line and recovered the weapon.
The woman said she was not going to be arrested and then fled on foot. Police caught up with her almost immediately. She said she hurt her ankle in the chase, so officers called for medics.
An ambulance transported the woman to Southern Ohio Medical Center with an officer following behind. She was admitted to the hospital, and officers issued a summons.
Shoplifters Flee Burg Kroger With Cart Full of Groceries
Deputies responded to the Wheelersburg Kroger after employees said a woman left the store without paying for a buggy full of items.
Employees caught up with her, and she fled in a red vehicle with a male driver at the wheel. The store recovered the items, but told deputies the pair had shoplifted from there in the past, and they wanted them barred from the store.
Officers searched the area in an unsuccessful attempt to locate the vehicle.
Woman Smashes Windshield in Lucasville
At 8 pm, an Oakwood Avenue resident contacted officers to report that a neighbor intentionally busted the window out of her car.
When officers arrived on the scene, the woman said she heard a loud bang and discovered the windshield was broken. She said her neighbor told her another neighbor did the damage.
When officers spoke to the man, he said he saw a woman smash the windshield and then run down the alley, but he could not identify the woman.
However, the neighbor suspected in the incident said she had not been down the street and had witnesses to back her up.
Officers said there was not enough evidence to file charges.
