Just before 6 pm, Jefferson, Rubyville, and Minford Fire Squads responded to a structure fire on Burns Hollow Road. The single-story building was reported to be unoccupied and fully involved in flames.
Witnesses on the scene told firefighters that it was an arson fire stemming from a child custody dispute. However, some firefighters on the scene weren’t sure who to call first about it.
Firefighters seemed to have the blaze under control, but around 1 am, multiple callers reported that the fire had rekindled and that there were explosions.
After responding to the scene and containing the rekindling, Minford firefighters wanted to ensure that the Fire Marshal’s office was informed about the arson report.
Deputies took information for a report and said they would contact the property owners in the morning to continue the investigation.
Fire blazed again on Burns Hollow Road the next afternoon at 3:40 pm. AEP and several fire departments, as well as the fire marshal, responded to the scene.
A source familiar with this situation told SCDN, that there were two homes owned by the same family that burned a day apart. We will continue to follow this Arson Investigation and update when more details become available.
