Wyoming is one of least populated states in the United States, but what it lacks in people it more than makes up for with its scenic landscapes. Some of the world’s greatest wilderness areas are in this state, which is home to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, giving you access to all kinds of wildlife and geothermal terrains. Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone is the country’s oldest national park, and visitors can see abundant wildlife roaming freely throughout its thousands of acres. It’s also a geothermal wonderland thanks to its steaming geysers and hot springs. You can explore the park on foot, by boat or kayak on the lakes, or even by traversing the Morrison Trail, one of most challenging off-roading trails in Wyoming.
Teton Range
The Teton Range, formed by a buckled fault line in the Earth’s crust, crowns Grand Teton National Park. The highest peak, Grand Teton, is the highest peak, at over 13,700 feet in height. When you visit the Grand Tetons, you’ll see hundreds of species of birds, dozens of mammal species, and a variety of freshwater fish by hiking the trails and staying overnight in one of the many campgrounds.
City of Jackson
Tucked away at the foot of the Tetons, the city of Jackson exudes Old West charm thanks to rustic buildings and shops and a town square complete with elk-horn arches. It’s a popular stop on the way to Yellowstone, and you can also see the National Elk Refuge here, which protects the largest herd of elk in the world. During the winter, you can even take a horse-drawn sleigh into the refuge to see them up close.
Hot Springs State Park

At Hot Springs State Park, you can stop and soak in the steamy mineral water for the bath of a lifetime.
