Body Discovered in 4th Street Yard
Just before 1 pm, officers and EMS personnel responded to a disturbing report in the 1400 block of 4th Street.
A witness reported a person lying unresponsive in a yard and said that the person’s skin appeared yellow.
When EMS personnel arrived on the scene, they confirmed that the person was deceased. An officer was dispatched to notify the next of kin while other officers took information for a report.
Stranger Tries Doors on Vinton Avenue
A concerned Vinton Avenue resident called Portsmouth Police at 2:25 am to report a strange man attempted to open his door.
He said he was sitting on his couch when he heard the doorknob jiggle and spotted someone at his door. When he went outside, he saw a man walking down the alley.
The man said he yelled at the stranger, who took off running in the direction of Goodwill. Police were unable to locate the stranger.
Man Arrested For Domestic Violence
Just before 4 am, officers responded to a report of an assault on 10th Street. The victim said the assailant had left n the direction of Tracy Park.
Police caught up with the man at Kroger and took him into custody. He was charged with domestic violence.
He was immediately released per the court.
