Common Symptoms of Tire Problems To Look Out For
ShareTweetEmail

Tires are an important part of the vehicle, as they are responsible for keeping your rides smooth and safe. However, over time there are bound to be signs of wear and tear that are too subtle to notice if you don’t know what you are looking for. To help with that, these are some common symptoms of tire problems to look out for before and after your next drive.

Worn Tire Tread

As your tires are used for several miles at a time, the friction between them and the road reduces the tread the longer it is used. With this in mind, tread bars on the tire help indicate when the tread has reached its minimum acceptable measurement before it is considered unsafe for use. Tire treads that are too thin are more susceptible to blowouts and damage from the road.

Vibrations

While different kinds of damage are able to cause vibrations in your car, the tires are one possible reason for the same issue. When tires are not rotated in time, the uneven wear on each one begins to affect their performance. As soon as vibrations are noticed while driving, it is best to have your vehicle’s undercarriage checked if you cannot identify or repair it yourself.

Reduced Driving Control

If you feel looseness when steering or lack of sensitivity when accelerating, it is a good idea to check on the different drive shaft components of your car. The drive shaft is responsible for transferring the torque produced by your engine into the wheels for them to move your car properly. While this is not directly an issue with the tires, the continued use of a worn-out drive train puts extra strain on your tires and possibly your engine.

Keeping your tires in good shape enables your car to operate efficiently and as expected. Finding the source of some of your driving issues becomes easier by considering a few of these common symptoms of tire problems to look out for. It is important to reference the owner’s manual for additional information related to your tires and their specifications. Take your next road trip in stride, and comfortable in your ability to spot some of these symptoms of your tires.
